I was going to sue for infringement of body type but it turns out I’m big boned not fat. 4ft8, 240 pounds is big boned right? Anywich a single word to discribe this movie would be “pleasant”. The great Simon Pegg plays his usual aimless bloke who gets cold feet and leaves his pregnant fiance, Thandie Newton at the alter. Flash forward 5 years, carefully, dont hurt yourself, and Simons a security guard at a lingerie store and sees his son weekly. He still pines for Newton but is ok with their situaton when suddenly, cue dramatic music, another man sweeps her off her feet. The new guy, played by Chief Wiggam voice master Hank Azaria, is everything Simon is not. Rich, good job and an athlete. Spurred into action to win his girl back, Simon decides to race the new man in the London marathon. This is a very paint by numbers, as predictable as they come comedy but is saved by its very likeable cast. Its directed by Ross from Friends, David Swinemandude or something. Simon being trained by his Indian landlord and gambling addicted friend Dylan Moran are funny stuff. As an aside, go buy Dylan Morans great Brit TV series Black Books at once. Go to Amazon now, I’ll wait. Welcome back Hot Pants. So all in all a pleasant movie for the whole family. Its PG-13 and runs 100 min. Now I know what your thinking, “Sweet Uncle Cool this is’ent your usual type of movie, your taste in romantic films contain scenes of immoral, degrading and probably illegal behavior in them”! Your right of course but I’ll see anything with Simon Pegg and Dylan Moran in it. Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were both great. I even bought a region free DVD player just to see Simons brilliant British TV series “Spaced”. I had to order from Amazon U.K. Simon Pegg is the man. Next: The Ruins
